- This is volume 1 in our series of advent calendars for all the crossword lovers out there.
- Inside each one of the 24 windows in this calendar you will find a crossword puzzle to solve, and if you manage to solve it without looking up any clues, you get either 1, 2, or 3 points depending on the crossword’s difficulty. Your goal is of course to try to get as many points as possible by solving as many puzzles as you can during December.
- All puzzles are designed by experienced crossword creators featured in publications like The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Guardian and are meant to be fun and challenging for a broad audience.
- The puzzles generally follow the typical rules for “American-style” crosswords, but to shake things up a little, not all crosswords are square-shaped. The puzzles also come in different sizes, ranging from 9 x 8 to 12 x 12 squares. Solutions to the crosswords are included on a special folded (and spoiler-safe sheet), and are also available online. The size of the calendar is 8.5″ x 25.4″ (21.5 x 64.5 cm) when unfolded, and 8.5″ x 14″ (21.5 x 35.5 cm) folded.
- If you’re relatively new to crosswords, it’s possible the hardest ones will leave you completely stumped – but don’t worry, next day’s crossword will probably be easier. On the other the hand, if you’re a crossword enthusiast, you will perhaps breeze through some of the easy ones but hopefully find the hard ones more interesting. If you’re a true expert, we challenge you to try to solve ALL puzzles in the calendar and earn the maximum 48 points. Can you do it?
